Synopsis

The victim is Barry Underwood, the owner and operator of the Underwood Wine Estates. The suspects are many, each having the motive and opportunity to kill him:

  • Marilyn Merlot (Larkin), the jilted Hollywood starlet
  • Papa Vito (Cody), the under appreciated employee
  • Hedy Shablee (Katey), the crazy rival
  • Otto Von Schnopps (Daniel), the vengeful wine connoisseur
  • Tiny Bubbles (Sarah), the gold-digging ex-fiance
  • Ralph Rottingrape (Sean), the fortuitous heir to the estate

Later, on Halloween night, Luis throws TST #28. Meanwhile:

  • Sean & Sarah do nothing
  • Mike, Lauren & Jake steal the couch and watch a movie in the canyon
  • Daniel & Katey watch “The Ring”
  • Cody & Larkin watch “The Grudge”
  • Luis & Billy play Smash

They all get movies and video games out of their system because on November 1st, the infamous Media Fast begins…

Background

If you followed the original first season of The Place, you might not have remembered seeing this event. I was planning on originally editing this event into some sort of special that never panned out.

The guys did a good job putting the Murder Mystery Dinner together. Sean cooked the meal, and made the dessert. The awesome decorations that transformed Pine Gables into the Underwood Wine Estates were provided by Cody’s sisters.

What you didn’t see, was that I had left the booklets with the scripts and info at home. We actually didn’t discover this until AFTER the dinner was over. We called Julie who then brought the booklets from Branbury with Jamison.

The TST in this episode was actually TST #28, meaning that TST #27 (two weeks earlier) has absolutely no record of existing– no photos, no video, nothing. The last TST to appear in the show, was TST #26 in “The Follies of Fall.”
